there is a tide in the affairs of men which, taken at the flood, leads on to

I feel privileged to have been invited to join a remarkable community of artists working together in a spirit of unity to imagine and give voice to visions of lasting peace. The path for each of us is different and this biennale reflects that reality, providing an intimate and unique interaction between the viewer and each artist. Perhaps as artists we can lead the way.

Let us ensure that this is not a Pyrrhic victory, but one that leads to renewal, a change of hearts and minds, a deep and lasting healing… the sustained peace our people yearn for.

Phoenix explores mans most powerful emotion: Fear. Why does humanity and tolerance hide behind this existential terror – a contagious and destructive emotion?

As a nation we cannot help but be brutalized and desensitized by this many decade long ordeal. As we struggle to imagine lasting peace, we face with sorrow the enmity and hate that still lingers. This residual pain and fear will surely re-ignite and destroy us, unless we wholeheartedly embrace compromise and forgiveness.

Phoenix comprises interactive and interlinked installations that combine performance art, words, music, video, sculpture, digital and mixed media paintings.

Yet, every fear can be overcome. Joy can emerge out of the depths of despair. We each have a choice on how we look at loss and losing. Phoenix urges us to rise from the ashes of our past for the hope of a better tomorrow lives on and the dream shall never die.
